Anand is a 2004 Telugu film that was directed, produced and written by Sekhar Kammula.The lead roles were played by Raja and Kamalinee Mukherjee. The film was well received by critics and owing to its success at the box office, it was remade in Tamil as Ninaithale.The film's basic story was also chosen as the subject for Sekhar Kammula's thesis screenplay which was a requirement for his Masters in Fine Arts at Howard University.Anand is a beautifully made film, with simple, if slightly strait-laced, ideas about relationships. There’s an honesty in its timbre, despite the obvious effort it makes to sustain the rose-tinted, soft-focus view.
